A few days ago I was feeling burdened by the role of mother. I was feeling more like a maid/cook/caretaker and not someone who my children valued. A few hours later Samantha, John Derek, and Maddie came in with several roses that they had picked off our rose bush and gave them to me and told me that they loved me and thanked me for being such a good mom. It was the pick me up I needed. God has so many tender mercies, He lets me know He is listening, that He cares and that I have value to Him.
Michael was fussy a few days ago and would want to sit with me and read a story. 3 days in a row he fell asleep on my lap. He never does this and it was so sweet to cuddle and sing my little boy to sleep.
Derek got up this morning and brought Michael into our bed. I had not even heard him cry. It was cute to wake up to them both sleeping soundly. What a sweet husband I have.

"Mothers, cherish that role
that is so uniquely yours and for which heaven itself sends angels
to watch over you and your little ones.
Yours is the work of
salvation, and therefore you will be
magnified, compensated, made
more than you are, better than you are,
and better than you have
ever been. You are
doing terrifically well.
The very fact that you have been given
such a responsibility is
everlasting evidence of the trust your
Father in Heaven has in you.
He is blessing you and He will bless
you, even—no, especially—when your days
and your nights may be the
most challenging. Rely on Him. Rely on Him heavily. Rely on Him
forever. And “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having
a perfect brightness of hope.”
