Brothers/Giving Thanks

John Derek is a good big brother.  He loves being with Michael and he is so good with him.  They play outside, inside and love to sleep together.  Lately they have even been falling alseep in the top bunk together.  It is so sweet.  What great boys I have. Michael fell asleep watching tv on my bed.  He has his shoes on and a rolling pin.  So Cute!! I have been trying to work on keeping my thoughts directed towards the Savior and His gospel.  Yesterday instead of browsing on my phone while I ate lunch I opened the New Era.  I found a story entitled, Things I learned as a Young Convert .   He talks about wanting to remain worth of going on a mission while he was in the German Army.  So he decided to pray always.  "Walking from building to building, going up and down hills in the forests, lying in the foxholes, playing war games—wherever I was, I would engage with Heavenly Father in prayer whenever I could,...

Big Brother/Elder Nelson

We went for a walk the other day.  I was proud of the kids and how well they did.  Once it was time to turn around John Derek wanted to run ahead a play on the toys.  I said that was fine but as he started to run little Michael called out to him in desperation running as fast as his little legs could carry him.  The sweet brother that John Derek is, stopped, walked back, took his hand and went together with him to the park.  At one point I almost caught up with him ans JD was placing Michael on his back as Michael was getting tired of walking.  JD is such a good kid.  He has a heart of gold and I love seeing that heart shine through. For Family Home Evening we watched a message from Elder Nelson about making the Sabbath a Delight.   As I watched this video I reflected on the numerous articles I have read concerning the Sabbath Day.  Any of them that were written after this last general conference mention Elder Nelson's tal...

Brothers/Atonment

John Derek is a good brother.  Yesterday during the basketball game he played with Michael.  He even found a spot he though would make a good picture and had me come out and take it.  What a great young man. As I was reading today, in The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition) by Tad R. Callister, the question was posed " Was the Savior the only possible sacrificial lamb? "  My immediate thought turned me to a scripture in 2 Nephi 31:21 : "There is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God."  Brother Callister quoted a discussion someone had with scholars of the Bible who believe that there may have been another way, that Christ was just the easiest way.  How grateful I am for the Book of Mormon .  For the truth in it's pages.  How it clears up so many questions and helps us find the answers we are looking for.
