The Book of Mormon

Yesterday in the October 2017 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Nelson asked 3 questions: 1. What would your life be like without the Book of  Mormon? 2. What would you not know? 3. What would you not have? I would like to answer those questions for myself. 1. What would my life be like without the Book of Mormon? Without the Book of Mormon my life would be much more confused, much more empty, I would have much more doubt and question more.  I would only be able to rely on the Bible and would have a lot more doubt because of stories and situations that I do not understand.  That seem unclear and questionable.  I would not feel the amazing love I feel from my Savior.  I know I would know He loves me but I wouldn't realize how completely. 2. What would I not know without it? My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ comes to the Americas .  I love His compassion for the people. ...

Labor Day/Mormon

We went to the Lake for Labor Day.  It was fun to be with family and to play in the water.  Mormon 1:15  "15  And I, being fifteen years of age and being somewhat of a sober mind, therefore I was visited of the Lord, and tasted and knew of the goodness of Jesus." Mormon had to know that God was real at a very early stage. Just like Joseph Smith, Mormon was going to be put through a lot of persecution and he needed a strong knowledge to keep him on the right path and help him stand up to the wickedness that surrounded him.

Summer Track Out/Lexia's Foot

Wednesday began Summer Track out!!  Elizabeth went off to girls camp and me and the kids went up to the Lake House.  Thursday we went swimming in the lake.  I thought it was great because Michael could swim by himself with his new floaty and Samantha was taking such good care of him that I didn't have to get in the water.  But after several please to get in the water and my desire to exercise for the day I decided to jump in.  While pushing off with my right foot I heard a snap and felt pain in my foot then landed in the water.  I poped up saying "ouch" as calmly as I could.  But my kids knew something was wrong.  They tried to help me and finally I got out of the water. To make a long story short Dad T. took me to the ER and I had broken my 2nd Metatarsal bone, the bone above my 2nd toe.  So here I sit with people waiting on me hand and foot, taking care of my children and being awesome.  Michael has adopted Uncle Heath and Aunt S...

Fun at the Lake/Learning

Elizabeth Maddie John Derek Grandmommy and Grandaddy Cousin Caroline Samantha Tubing James We had a blast up at the lake with our cousins.  It is such a joy to be around family.  We love it!!   We tubed, swam, skied, ate, laughed, it was a good weekend.  Even little Michael got in a tube with Elizabeth.  He loved it.  He even turned around and rode backwards for a while.  That boy has lost his fear of the water.  It is so fun to see him so confident and unafraid.   Book of Mormon, Alma 52:21 "21  And it came to pass that Moroni, having no hopes of meeting them upon fair grounds, therefore, he resolved upon a plan that he might decoy the Lamanites out of their strongholds." This plan is used over and over again in this war. I am amazed at how many times the Lamanites take the ...

Cousins and Lake Gaston/Blessings

Michael loves Aunt LaLa. We love spending time with cousins. Our Cousin Cody came for a visit.  It was so fun to be with him. Our Cousin Tyler!! Elizabeth snuggled up at Lake Gaston Tubing is our favorite activity. My husband encouraged me to read over my Patriarchal Blessing (Patriarchal blessings include a declaration of a person's lineage in the house of Israel and contain personal counsel from the Lord. For more information click here .)  I have had some worries on my mind, worries about my children, if I am a good enough mom, the temptations of life, my future, my role in this world and in my church, those I Visit Teach , and many more.  As I read I was given peace.  I was reminded of the talents I have received from the Lord.  I kept reading the words, "you will be able to  . . ." this gives me power over the doubts put in my mind from Satan.  This reminds me that a Loving Heavenly Father knows my weaknesses and ...

Summer Break #5/"All We Can Do"

Maddie and Samantha Derek, Michael, and Elizabeth What a cutie!! Derek and Elizabeth got home from camp.  They had a lot of fun.  Elizabeth loved the zip line and loved the independence.  It was fun to see her so grown up.  She was able to feel the Spirit of the Lord and I know that she is growing into a beautiful young woman and I am excited for her to learn more from the gospel. They joined us up at the lake and we had lots of fun playing together in the water. The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition) by Tad R. Callistar Pg. 264--We must do all we can, and when we have reached our limits, when we have asserted all our mental, moral, and spiritual energies, then the powers of heaven will intervene." This is a good reminder for me.  As I struggle with weaknesses I am reminded that the atonement will make up the difference.  I will still do the best I can but what may seem impossible will be accomplished with the help of the Lo...

I remember the first time I was in their home (on a blind date with my future husband) and I felt a great amount of love in their home and thought that whoever was part of that home must be very blessed.  Little did I know that I would be part of that love and it is such a blessing.
