One of my favorite books is King Bidgood's in the Bathtub by Audrey Wood & Don Wood. I have loved it ever since my mother introduced it to us years ago. Naturally I introduced it into my own home and it has become a family favorite.
I replied, "Help, Help called the Mom when the sun shone bright Maddie's in the bathtub and she won't get out. Oh, who knows what to do?"
Maddie laughed and replied, "I do cried the bishop when the sun shown bright, get out it's time to go to Church."
Maddie continued, "come in cried Maddie with a Church, Church, Church, today we Church in the tub."
At this we broke out laughing. Maddie kept going, "Help, Helped cried the Mommy when the sun sank low. Maddie's in the bathtub and she won't get out, oh who knows what to do? I do cried the Mom when the sun sank low and then she pulled the plug, BLLLug, BLLLug, BLLLug."
"23 Now this was in the second year of the reign of Alma, and it was a cause of much affliction to the church; yea, it was the cause of much trial with the church.
24 For the hearts of many were hardened, and their names were blotted out, that they were remembered no more among the people of God. And also many withdrew themselves from among them.
25 Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them."
The
wickedness is in the Church. The people the righteous had to stand up
to were former brothers and sisters in the Gospel. This must have been a
very difficult time for the Bishop's, the leaders. I think it would
break their hearts as they love these people. But they still loved them
and were patient even through these hard trials.
