Sweet Family Home Evening

We had a very good Family Home Evening tonight.  I was not expecting anything much at all.  We had swim team practice and daddy's out of town, everyone was cold and tired so I was thinking FHE treat and Mormon Messages.  However Maddison really wanted to have a testimony meeting.  JD wanted to watch Meet the Mormons so we compromised with Maddie's testimony and the movie while we at the treat.   Maddie began telling about how even though things don't always go the way you want Jesus still cares about you.  I then asked her to tell the story about when she had a bad dream.  So she told us that one night she kept waking up over and over because of a bad dream but that Jesus helped her get through the night.  She had told me this story a few days ago.  It was sweet to hear her testimony growing.   I have a gardenia bush outside my house and it is in full bloom.  It is so fun!!  I always think of my grandmother when I see t...

My Standard/Testimony

Yesterday was hard.  I have been riding an emotional roller coaster the past little while and yesterday it was very apparent. There is a movie that my children have wanted to watch for a long time.  It is one of those that I don't feel comfortable seeing or having my children see but most people find it wonderful and enjoyable.  It has one part that I don't like and because of it I have not allowed my children to watch this show, much to their dismay. Yesterday the show ended up at my home, I knew that in the near future we were going to have to watch the show because of other circumstances and I felt that it was inevitable.  Never the less I struggled to know if it was the right thing to do.  Then I remembered that I have ClearPlay and that it will delete anything inappropriate so I allowed my children to watch the show.  I disappeared upstairs so that I wouldn't have to deal with it. But of course I came down right at that scene and ClearPlay wa...

Time/Teaching by the Spirit

As I was driving the kids to school the other day I saw this pretty pattern on my window made by the condensation.  I am trying to take more time for my kids.  The beginning of the week I was very distratcted and didn't even do my 20 min. with each one after school.  But then my cleaning lady came and reset my house and I feel so free.  Yesterday I was able to get all my little routines done and other things on my list as well as things I have been wanting to do and then when the kids got home I was able to put all of my attention on them until it was time to eat.  I felt that was a true blessing.  That is why I am doing Flylady, to have more time with my kids.  It is amazing how doing a little everyday really does free you and give you more time. Lunch/Loving my Children

This past week I went to lunch with the Elementary kids.  It is amazing that just me coming to lunch with them, sitting at a special table, and picking two friends to eat lunch with can make these kids feel so special.  I really think I need to do this more often.  It is good for them to feel special. Hanging out with John Derek and his friends made me realize how "normal" John Derek is.  When I was trying to get a picture each of the boys took turns making weird faces and of course trying to photo bomb the picture.  Just like my John Derek does all the time.  He is awesome.  I got to see Maddie in a setting I don't usually see her in.  She was happy and confident.  I got to meet friends of hers and was told what a good girls she was by her teacher and how much they enjoy having her in their class.  She really is a good girl. It was fun to see Samantha truly enjoying her friends.  I met girls I had never met bef...

The Spirit was with Me

Yesterday I had the privledge of giving a talk in my church meeting.  I spoke about what I have seen my husband do as bishop and how this ward has blessed my family.  I truly had felt the Spirit guide me in what I would say.  As I spoke I again felt the Spirit with me.  I was amazed at how my heart was touched, I cried through almost the whole thing.  I testified that my husband has the mantel of the Bishop and when he speaks as the Bishop his countanence changes and he no longer speaks as a man but as a servant of the Lord. Later I had to give a lesson in Relief Society.  As I did last time I prayed for the sisters of my ward individually, by name.  I was amazed that a sister I had prayed would be at church was there.  This is the second time I had prayed for my fellow sisters and she has come both times.  Vancouver, Canada 2013 My lesson was on Following the Living Prophet .  It was a simple lessons and I quickly was running o...

Bishop's Wife

I ran into a woman today who's husband is a bishop.  We started talking about being the wife of a bishop, the ups, the downs, the how do you?, the what do you do?, it was good.  Then she caught me off guard when she said, "but don't you think the blessings outweigh the difficulty?"  I decided that I needed to write down what blessings I am receiving while my husband is in this calling: The biggest thing I have seen in myself is my patience incerase.  Now I still loose it from time to time, but I can tell it is not as much, that when things happen my patience is so much greater, I don't react with so much harshness but with patience and love.  Even when I am in the middle of something that should make me so upset I stand in awe about how well I am handeling the situation and know that is a gift from Heavenly Father. We felt the need to involve our children in several afterschool activities.  One day I realized that I would need to be 3 places on Tuesda...

Family Council/Power of the Atonement

We had the family council that I mentioned the other day.  We decided to focus on better breakfasts.  Not so many breakfasts with syrup (waffles, panckes, german pancakes etc.)  And to also only have one bowl of cereal (before they were allowed 2.)  I do know that I need to have more fruits and vegetables around.  I am afraid this means going to the store more often.  But I know with the help of the Lord we can do it. The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition) by Tad R. Callistar Pg. 221--"The powers of the Atonement do not lie dormant until one sins and then suddenly spring forth to satisfy the needs of the repentant person.  Rather, like the forces of gravity, they are everywhere present, exerting their unseen but powerful influence" What an encouragement!!  To know that just as Satan's forces are fighting so hard there is a more powerful force exerting its power over us.  That all those "coincidences" are not coincidences, th...
