1st Day of School/Family Prayer

This is an old post that never got posted: Monday was the first day of school.  All the kids started new schools so it was new for everyone.  Over all the day went good.  People seemed pretty happy. Samantha had the hardest time but going the middle school is hard.  I keep telling her she can do hard things.  This summer she climbed a rock wall and did a ropes course at Aspen Grove.  I remember being a teenager and doing the course.  I thought is was very difficult and have had no desire to do it again.  It was very difficult for her but she did not give up.  She kept at it even when she would fall.  I was proud of her.  She can do hard things. Michael was so tired after his 1st day of school that when we went shopping he just laid his head on the cart and would ask every few minutes if we could go home. Lately Heavenly Father has been helping me feel like I am a good mom.  As I have tried t...

Lunch/Loving my Children

This past week I went to lunch with the Elementary kids.  It is amazing that just me coming to lunch with them, sitting at a special table, and picking two friends to eat lunch with can make these kids feel so special.  I really think I need to do this more often.  It is good for them to feel special. Hanging out with John Derek and his friends made me realize how "normal" John Derek is.  When I was trying to get a picture each of the boys took turns making weird faces and of course trying to photo bomb the picture.  Just like my John Derek does all the time.  He is awesome.  I got to see Maddie in a setting I don't usually see her in.  She was happy and confident.  I got to meet friends of hers and was told what a good girls she was by her teacher and how much they enjoy having her in their class.  She really is a good girl. It was fun to see Samantha truly enjoying her friends.  I met girls I had never met bef...

I'f I were incharge of the world/Strength's and Weaknesses

Elizabeth just finished her first season playing Volleyball for Durant Middle School, Go Dolphins!! Samantha wrote this poem about if she were in charge of the world.  I love reading my kids work and getting a clearer gimps of who they are.  Like, canceling mushrooms, permanent markers, candy bar would be a vegetable and if a person did not brush their hair they could still be allowed to be in charge of the world. “Lord, Is It I?” By President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, October 2014 General Conference "well-being. If our weaknesses and shortcomings remain obscured in the shadows, then the redeeming power of the Savior cannot heal them and make them strengths. Ironically, our blindness toward our human weaknesses will also make us blind to the divine potential that our Father yearns to nurture within ...

John Derek IEP Meeting/

John Derek is bairly passing 1st grade.  He is constantly teatering between failing and passing.  He does fine in every subject except reading.  This is a subject that he needs to survive in this world.  I have been worried about him.  The Lord has been directing me with what to do about hime and he helped me again. When John Derek was almost 5 he was able to go to Kindergarten.  I felt that he was too young but the Lord told me I should send him so I did.  Half way through the year I took him out because again I felt it was the direction of the Lord and he needed one more year to truly be ready for school. In Kindergarten that next year he was struggling with his ABC's.  He received extra help and by the end of the year he was back on track with the rest of his class. In 1st grade I noticed that he started falling behind again.  I talked with my neighbror about her son and the difficulty that she has been facing because he is having tr...
