Pictures/Prayer/Leaders

Visiting Samantha's Class for Lunch Visiting John Derek's Class for a Holiday Celebration Visiting Maddie's Class for her presentation on Christmas Cute kids who actually volunteered to help with the Christmas Cards.  They were amazing! As I began my prayer this morning I felt the need to pray for my depression.  I am learning to be specific in my prayers and so I felt guided to pray to know how to be prepared for when I fall into my depressive moods, to put things in place so that I won't struggle so much. The idea that came to me was menu planning.  That is a tedious task that I don't enjoy doing every two weeks but that I know really helps me.  I think I should menu plan for 6 months and make a weekly grocery list for that menu.  Then I can alter it if needed that week, but it will be in place and I don't have to stress about it. I also think I should only work on it for 15-30 min. a day so that I don't become frustrated with it....

Big Brother/Elder Nelson

We went for a walk the other day.  I was proud of the kids and how well they did.  Once it was time to turn around John Derek wanted to run ahead a play on the toys.  I said that was fine but as he started to run little Michael called out to him in desperation running as fast as his little legs could carry him.  The sweet brother that John Derek is, stopped, walked back, took his hand and went together with him to the park.  At one point I almost caught up with him ans JD was placing Michael on his back as Michael was getting tired of walking.  JD is such a good kid.  He has a heart of gold and I love seeing that heart shine through. For Family Home Evening we watched a message from Elder Nelson about making the Sabbath a Delight.   As I watched this video I reflected on the numerous articles I have read concerning the Sabbath Day.  Any of them that were written after this last general conference mention Elder Nelson's tal...

The Spirit was with Me

Yesterday I had the privledge of giving a talk in my church meeting.  I spoke about what I have seen my husband do as bishop and how this ward has blessed my family.  I truly had felt the Spirit guide me in what I would say.  As I spoke I again felt the Spirit with me.  I was amazed at how my heart was touched, I cried through almost the whole thing.  I testified that my husband has the mantel of the Bishop and when he speaks as the Bishop his countanence changes and he no longer speaks as a man but as a servant of the Lord. Later I had to give a lesson in Relief Society.  As I did last time I prayed for the sisters of my ward individually, by name.  I was amazed that a sister I had prayed would be at church was there.  This is the second time I had prayed for my fellow sisters and she has come both times.  Vancouver, Canada 2013 My lesson was on Following the Living Prophet .  It was a simple lessons and I quickly was running o...

Strawberries/Living Prophet

Michale has become a very picky eater, as most toddlers.  He does not like to eat fruit or veggies.  But ever since he was little he has not liked strawberries.  When we went strawberry picking last year he would not touch them.  This year I hoped it would change but again no cute red face in the strawberry patch. Yesterday things changed.  We were at the pool, he was hungry and there were only grapes and strawberries.  He did not want either one.  But his hunger finally got the best of him and he ploped a grape in his mouth.  Not quite sure what to do I told him to bite on the grape and it would squirt in his mouth.  Oh this was cool.  He put another in and bit and laughted.  I decided that while he was being adventurous I would try a strawberry.  He actually put it in his mouth and bit down and didn't spit it out.  Instead he said, "It spit in my mouth, it's good!!"  He ate a few more strawberries and lots of g...

Elizabeth Award/Prophet

Today Elizabeth received an award for Straight A's.  I am so proud of her.  She is so good at doing what is required of her.  She does her home work without me telling her to.  She studies for tests and even recruits her parents to help her study.  She goes above and beyond what is required on all of her projects and does them as soon as they are assigned.  She is a fabulous student who works hard for her grades and does well.  What a blessing she is to me and our family. Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2:1 "1 And it came to pass that after Mosiah had done as his father had commanded him, and had made a proclamation throughout all the land, that the people gathered themselves together throughout all the land, that they might go up to the temple to hear the words which king Benjamin should speak unto them." This reminds me of General Confe...

Thanksgiving

We are in Virginia celebrating Thanksgiving with my extended family.  It is such a joy to be with family.  I love it.  I love that I have Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sisters, and In-laws so close to me.  Family is such a joy to me.  I love that my kids have my cousins to play with.  They have been running around the house in complete joy and happiness.  Big families are great because there is always someone you can play with.   We took a picture of all the babies.  Michael is my youngest and these lovely ladies are just at the beginning of their mothering adventure with their second.  But so fun to have friends to play with.   Wednesday we sang to Michael here is the video:   Today I read a talk by Elder Adrian Ochoa of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. ( click here to read/listen/watch) Jesus Christ , who was perfect, and Joseph Smith, who admitted that he himself was not, we...
