Happy Halloween/Goals 2017

The Little Mermaid A Sniper Female Captain America Care Bear Minnie Mouse Witch Reluctant Frog (he wouldn't put his hat on.) Pirate ARGH!! Meeting the Challenges of Today’s World Robert D. Hales, October 2015 General Conference "You may want to conduct what I’ll call a “personal council.” After praying, spend some time alone. Think about what is ahead. Ask yourself: “What areas of my life do I want to strengthen so that I can strengthen others? Where do I want to be a year from now? two years from now? What choices do I need to make to get there?” Just remember, you are a pilot, and you are in charge." Where do I want to be in 2 years? In November ...

Mom's Visit/Prayer

It was a delight to have my mom and sister here.  It was so fun when my mom walked in the door I heard her familiar, "Hellllooo" and the kids went running.  They ran into her arms with hugs hugs and more hugs.  Even little Michael was ecstatic.  Grandma instantly became Michael's best friend.  He would come in and look up at her with his big blue eyes and say "pay wif me?"  Grandma's heart would melt and the next moment she would be in the playroom being served cake or playing with cars.  She is so sweet.  It truly was delightful.         Book of Mormon, Helaman 11:9 "he cried again unto the Lord, saying:" This is not just a quick prayer. Even though this is a prophet that has been promised he could have control over the elements he still prays fervently to Father. He begs, pleads, asks for specifi...

Mothering

Today I went to my therapy session, not sure exactly what to talk about.  As I sat in the waiting room I looked over my goals that I had set for therapy.  One goal "To be more in love with my husband than I already am" I was able to check off.  Derek and I are doing great and I have noticed an amazing increase in love for him.  It has been delightful.  The next goal. "To be a mother who loves to be around her children," I realized is still in need of help.  We discussed this and she gave me some ideas.  Later I happened upon a wright up by, Jane Maynard , and read these words: Most of life is made up of small, mundane tasks. It’s easy to view those tasks as a nuisance, things that have to get done on the way to bigger and better experiences. But the true beauty of life is most often hidden in those day-to-day acts of survival. If we’re constantly complaining about those acts and wishing them away, we are missing out on life itself. I do...

What I Want/Inspiration

Today I sat down to follow my mentor's advice and write down what I want out of therapy.  Then I read the NieNie Dialogues "Hard Work" and that is exactly what I want to become.  That is what I want.  I just feel overwhelmed when trying to get there. Sunday I had to teach and my sister in law was there.  We talked about the Mormon Message, "Two Brother's Apart."   How the older brother treated the younger brother horribly and the younger brother just wanted to be loved.  Later we learn that the older brother was depressed and that through Christ he was able to make his greatest weakness his greatest strength and that now the brother's are best friends.  My sister in law raised her hand and said, "I think that the reason the older brother was so mean to his younger brother was because he was in pain and so treated his brother poorly.  I think that more often than not if someone is treating someone poorly that they themselves are hurting and i...

Lord's Hand/Setting Goals

Elizabeth loves her little brother.  It is so fun to see them together. I just think the Lord is amazing.  He has a way of letting me know what I need to do and when I need to do it.  I went to the doctor yesterday and realized that I have gained about 40 lbs. in one year.  The doctor was FABULOUS!! He talked to me for a long time, even though I came in about a Ganglion Cyst on my wrist (which is nothing), we talked about many of the concerns I have with my health and my exercise routine.  It was just what I needed.  He got me thinking about training for a 5K.  Samantha is in Girls on the Run (which after just 3 meetings I am SO impressed) and will run a 5K in December.  Then this morning as I read my scriptures I read the words of Pres. Spencer W. Kimball as quoted in Drawing on the Powers of Heaven by Grant Von Harrison , he quotes: We do believe in setting goals.  We live by goals.  In athletics we always have a goal....

Lizard/Potential

Maddie came running into the kitchen saying that John Derek had caught a lizard.   One fun thing about where we live is that there are lizards running all over the outside of the house.  But they are so fast and little it is almost impossible to catch one.  But John Derek had caught it.  We kept it in a cage for about an hour.  John Derek got to hold it and it finally stopped trying to run away.  He finally let it go.  It was a lot of fun for all of us. The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition) by Tad R. Callistar Pg. 243-244--C.S. Lewis, "It is a serous thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which . . . you would be strongly tempted to worship or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare.  All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these de...
