Samantha/Hope

I was able to go to Samantha's school the other day and see some of the work she has done.  It was so cute to see that she wrote a letter to BYU Admissions telling them why she wants to go there.  Samantha is a good girl.  She tries so hard to please others.  She is having a very difficult time right now.  I finally uncovered that her teacher is yelling at the class and she is taking it personally.  She is also does not have the best self estem right now.  We have talked with her and feel that it is time to find a new therapist.  This was a hard thing for me to deal with.  Thinking that I should be doing more, that if I was a better mom she wouldn't need therapy.  But my sweet Heavenly Father let me know that I am a good mom and that this is beyond me and I need help.  Just as I would seek help for JD's reading I can't do this by myself.  I have faith that she will become the Young Woman the Lord wants her to be. Maxwell   "life, patience also helps us to realize that while we may be ready to move on, having had enough of a particular learning experience, our continuing presence is often a needed part of the learning environment of others." As I think of myself, who must still suffer through depression, and other...

Samantha/Power of Sacrifice

Last night Samantha was working on some school work at the desk next to me.  She turned to me and said, "When I get married I am going to get married in the temple to a returned missionary who doesn't laugh at me and won't make fun of me when I break my bones."  She then smiled her beautiful smile with her cute dimple showing.  I commented on her cute dimple and she said, "I tell my friends that a dimple is where an angel kissed you."  It was nice to have some sweet exchanges with my daughter. From this moment I learned that some of the things I am teaching her are sticking, like get married in the temple to a returned missionary.  I also learned where she is vulnerable, being made fun of and having accidents that cause her pain physically and emotionally.  I also learned that she feels special because of who she is and that she has been touched by angels. My Husband/Christ's Love

Michael loves his dad.  It is so fun to see the two of them together.  Michael had brought the book "Brown, Bear, Brown, Bear" to Derek.  Derek read it and then offered other books but Michael would push the other books away and go back to "Brown Bear."  I am eternally grateful to my Heavenly Father for a wonderful husband he is so kind and loving to me and to his children.  He is continually and unselfishly giving of his time and energy.  He is a great example to me of love and sacrifice.  How blessed I am to be married to such a wonderful man. The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition,) by Tad R. Callister: Pg. 163-165--"The compelling, driving force behind [the Savior's] sacrifice was love, not duty or glory or honor or any other temporal reward.  It was love in its purest, deepest, most enduring sense . . . He gave until there was nothing left to give . . . The Savior's love was not a love for the righteous only; it was not an ab...

Fast Sunday/Charity

Today is Fast Sunday.  The first Sunday of each month our Church holds Fast Sunday.  We are encouraged to go without food or water for 2 meals and then donate the money we would have spent on those two meals to the poor.  Fasting also allows us to come closer to the Lord, to show our devotion to something important to us.  We are encouraged to fast with a purpose.  Today I am fasting for Charity towards my family and others.  I want to be able to love all those I interact with, to offer forgiveness to those who have offended me and to love everyone. We took all the decorations down yesterday.  Derek was great and helped me get the decorations down and put in the attic.  Even my son and his cousin helped us put the boxes in the attic. Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 1:1 "having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the...
