I grew up in Utah, there was snow every winter and I think one or maybe two times in my life school was canceled because of the snow. Now enter North Carolina. They are not as prepared for snow because frankly we just don't get much. The past two years we have not had enough snow on the ground to do any kind of playing in. The kids have been frustrated about this and have been desperate for snow.
Well this week their prayers were answered. I dropped Maddie off at preschool Monday and was told that we could get 6-12" on Tuesday. I couldn't believe it. I checked the weather and they were calling for 2-5." But it would be snow. In anticipation of the snow our school system canceled school Tuesday. Me and the kids sat around with great anticipation waiting for the snow. Finally at 7:30 that evening we started to see a fine dusting coming down. We put out our bowls and hoped that we would get enough to have make snow cream.
The next morning we had about 2" of snow. School was again cancelled. We all played in the snow. The kids went sledding, Derek worked from home. He had tried to drive to work but the roads were just too bad. John Derek was gone the whole day. He poked his head in for lunch and then was off again playing with the neighbors. Maddie had gotten snow in her rain boots and pulled them off exposing her toes. Samantha was so sweet and pulled her back to the house on a sled where I brought her in and warmed her feet.
As we went to bed Wed. night I looked and school was again cancelled. Thursday we did a little in the snow but there was not enough for sledding and we are all getting tired of sitting around. We had only gone to school for 3 days since being tracked out so we are all ready to go back to school.
Tonight, I called Derek and said he had to take me to dinner because I was going stir crazy and had cabin fever. Elizabeth was an angel and watched the kids for us and we went out. I looked again at the website for closings and found that yet again school has been cancelled for Friday!! As my good friend put it AAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!
Only in North Carolina do we cancel school for 2" of snow and do it 24 hours before the snow comes and miss 4 days of school.

2 Nephi 2:23-24
"23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things."
I
still have many unanswered questions about the fall. It still confuses
me, but I have faith in my Father in Heaven. I know He cares about all
His children and He wants us to return to Him. I trust His decisions
and though I may not understand them I will move forward with Faith in
Him and His plan.
The Infinite Atonement, by Tad R. Callister (Illustrated Edition)
pg. 85--"While it would be premature to reach a definite conclusion before further revelation is received, it seems that the Atonement stretched far enough back to encompass all our sins, including, if necessary, or premortal life. In such a way it would apply retroactively with infinite effect."
I had never thought of this before. That we did have agency before we lived on this earth and we could sin. Just look at all those who chose to follow Satan instead of Christ. What an interesting thought.
