This morning on the way to drop the kids off to school we listened to the song Angels Among Us by Alabama. We talked about how angles can be from heaven or they can be people around us. Samantha said, "Angles have helped me." She reminded me of a story:
When Michael was born Derek and I arrived home from the hospital on Saturday. Everyone was so excited and were ready to get out and move around. We were encouraging them to ride bikes and be outside. Samantha asked if she could ride her bike and take a watch up to her friend's home. It would have been further than we had ever let her ride alone before but we thought that would be fine. A little while later Samantha came into the house with her helmet still on crying and holding up her arm. It was obvious that she had broken it. She told us that she had fallen on her bike about half way to the friends house. Then these two girls came up to her and helped her up and walked her and her bike home. They did not come in and when we went outside to thank them they were gone.
Now I don't know where those angels were from but they were angels and I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who took care of my Samantha and brought her home.
Drawing on the Powers of Heaven, by Grant Von Harrison,
pg. 12--"'Bruce R. McConkie tells us that "Faith is a gift of God bestowed as a reward for personal righteousness. It is always given when righteousness is present, and the greater the measure of obedience to God's laws the greater will be the endowment of faith.' Consequently, faith as a principle of power can only be exercised by those who conform to the principles of truth that are come from God."
Derek and I have a favorite quote that I have shared before from Pres. Hinckley. Things work out . . . The other day we were discussing something and again quoted the line, It will all work out. We discussed how the meaning of that quote has changed for us. No longer is it a hope or even faith that things will work out but it is a knowledge. We know that the Lord will make everything work out for our good. We have seen His hand in our lives over and over again. We no longer need to rely on faith for our faith has turned to knowledge and the blessings of the Lord are poured upon us daily. The worries of life are not as acute because we know we are in His hands and we have given Him control over our lives. Again I am grateful for such a wonderful Heavenly Father who loves and supports me and gives me the freedom to not worry.
