Diabeties?

Tuesday I had to go into the doctors and go through at 3 hour test to see if I have Gestational Diabeties.  I did this once with Elizabeth, it is no fun but I was pretty sure it would come back negative.

After my 3 hours and 3 draws of blood I asked if they would call me with the results.  The nurse said that I would only be called if the test came back positive for Diabeties.

Thursday after not sleeping well, having a 7:00 a.m. parent teacher conference and going grocery shopping and visiting teaching I came home to sleep and relax.  As I listenend to my messages I found that the doctors office had called to discuss my test results.  My heart sank.  I immediatly called the office which was closed for lunch.

I called Derek and cried.  I called my mom, who was grocery shopping and all she heard was hysterical sobbing.  After everyone trying to calm me down and tell me that it was going to be okay I got online to see what having Gestational Diabeties ment.

While reading about all the problems that could occur with my babay the phone rang, it was the doctors office.  I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil and went into the other room to concentrate on what would be said.

The nurse wanted to let me know that I had passed the test and everything is fine.  I couldn't believe it but felt very blessed.

  1. I am so glad everything turned out well. I hate when I work myself up like that to realize that it was nothing. I can relate in many ways. The one thing I have learned and continue to relearn is that the Lord is watching over us and will help us with any situation. He will give us peace and comfort. I hope your pregnancy continues to go well! I love you and miss you and your family!
    Love,

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P...

My Daughter/Compliments From Up Above

Sunday I took a walk with the kids up to the park.  Elizabeth started to complain about how hard things are because we have such a big family and how if we wouldn't have had as many children as we do things would be so much easier for her.  I remember feeling the same way when I was her age. I said a silent prayer for the right words to say.  We talked about how the person who makes her the most happy is Michael.  She loves to be with him.  The first person she wants to see in the morning is him, when she gets home from school he is the first to get a hug.  She is really good at taking care of him and helping him with his needs.  She is such a nurturer and will make a fantastic mom.  If anyone needs a good babysitter I highly recommend her. As we talked her heart was touched.  I love it when as a mother you can reach into your child's soul and help sooth a trouble.  I was grateful for that experience. The Infinite Atonement (...

Depression

These past few days have been difficult emotionally.  Not nearly as bad as they could be but still very annoying.  I am tired and moody.  I have been trying to exercise daily and to keep busy but the week is just dragging on and I am grumpy.  One of the hardest things for me during this time is not being able to hear the promptings of the Holy Ghost.  It makes me anxious and I feel lost, that I don't know what to do, that I don't know what is important or where to step.  I know that this will soon pass but it is hard to deal with it sometimes.  I wish I could just curl up in bed and stay there until I felt better but I know this is not possible and it probably isn't the healthiest thing either. My friend shared this video with me about Depression.  I really liked how there were so many truths portrayed, so many examples of how I feel as well as good solutions and the truth that this can be overcome, not gone but controlled.  It is entitled:...
