First Words/Robot/Strength

Michael loves balls.  He always wants to collect as many as he can and the bigger the better.  One of his first four words was "ba" for ball.  He also says, "Hy" for hi, "mah" for more, and "ba ba" for bye.  It took me a while to figure out that his babbling was actually him talking.  It has been fun.
The other day I was changing Michael's smelly diaper and Maddie came up and said, plugging her nose, "That stinks!"  I said, "When you are a mom you are going to have to do this."  She got all defensive and said, "No, when I am a mom I will have a robot."  With the way our technology is progressing it wouldn't surprise me if she is right.  Later in the car she told me she did not want to be a mom because she didn't want to have to change dirty diapers.  It is cute to see them thinking, reasoning, and coming up with their wants and desires.
2 Nephi 16:5-7
"5 Then said I: Wo is unto me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips; and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.

6 Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar;

7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said: Lo, this has touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged."

When I read these verses I think about the sin and bad habits that each of us have. The Lord can really cleans us from our sins and bad habits. I know that as I focus on my family as the Lord has asked he will take care of my eating habits. I will try to stop worrying about it.

2 Nephi 15:26-30
"26 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth; and behold, they shall come with speed swiftly; none shall be weary nor stumble among them.

27 None shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken;

28 Whose arrows shall be sharp, and all their bows bent, and their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind, their roaring like a lion.

29 They shall roar like young lions; yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry away safe, and none shall deliver.

30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; and if they look unto the land, behold, darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof."

I feel like this is the work of the Lord. As I see His servants, my husband included, serving the Lord they are busy. They are quickly trying to get this work done. They don't have time to sleep, or even take off their shoes. They are continually working for the Lord.

I love the imagery of the "wheels like a whirlwind," and how they are constantly driving from one place to another.

One day I heard our Stake President speak and he was talking about how busy he was. How he wakes up early in the morning, runs, goes to work, then goes to his "other job" church responsibilities, comes home late at night and falls into bed only to get up the next morning and do it all over again. He said that he doesn't know how he has the energy to do it all. That he really should not but that the Lord gives him the energy he needs.

When I am feeling overwhelmed and unable to do all that is being asked of me I think of his talk and pray for strength. When we are in the Lord's service He will give us the strength we need to do His work as well as all the other things that have to be done.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
