Bunion Surgery/The Fall/Knowledge that God Loves You

Yesterday I had Bunion Surgery on my foot.  My feet have been bothering me for years.  They got pretty bad last year and then I broke my right foot in July.  After the break healed my bunion really started to act up and I had a very difficult time walking and doing daily activities.  It was also causing more problems with my feet and I truly feel it was the reason I broke my foot in the first place, I was not walking right. Frustrated I asked Derek for a blessing in March.  In the blessing he said that I needed to head the words of my doctor.  I had been feeling for a while that I should have this bunion surgery done but just didn't want to do it.  My doctor had told me that bunion  surgery was an option if I wanted it.  I knew it would be at least 2 weeks of not driving so I called my sweet mom and asked if she could come out the end of March and help me out.  She reminded me that Christina was having a baby at the end of March...

Time/Teaching by the Spirit

As I was driving the kids to school the other day I saw this pretty pattern on my window made by the condensation.  I am trying to take more time for my kids.  The beginning of the week I was very distratcted and didn't even do my 20 min. with each one after school.  But then my cleaning lady came and reset my house and I feel so free.  Yesterday I was able to get all my little routines done and other things on my list as well as things I have been wanting to do and then when the kids got home I was able to put all of my attention on them until it was time to eat.  I felt that was a true blessing.  That is why I am doing Flylady, to have more time with my kids.  It is amazing how doing a little everyday really does free you and give you more time. Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 15:2 "2  And it came to pass that when Jesus had said these words he perceived that there were some amo...

Scripture Study/Opportunites to Teach

Today testified of the power of scripture study.  In my lesson Sunday a sister mentioned that she gets up every morning at 5:30 and reads her scriptures, this is the only quiet time she has.  But this always makes her days go better.  Things run smoother and the unimportant things pass by the wayside.  I have tried to do this off and on for many years.  I had recently gotten back in the habit only to find myself nauseated and not able to get up last week.  So this week I resolved to begin again wondering if it would really make my day go better.  I did great until this morning when I realized that I had forgotten to turn on my alarm.  So I missed my opportunity.  I knew I would take the time later today and got my children up for scripture study.  Our friend comes over twice a week and watches the kids while I teach JD.  They love it!!  Yesterday Michael fell asleep on her lap.  So cute!! Well one thing after anot...

Sundae FHE/Preisthood Blessing

Family Home Evening was on keeping the Sabbath Day Holy.  We started talking about what toppings we like on steaks.  I then pulled out a bowl of ice cream and tried to convince them to put the stake sauce on the ice cream.  Then explained that there are some things we like on a Sundae and some things we don't.  Just like there are some things we do on Sunday and some things we don't.  We then labled each of the Sundae toppings with things we can do on Sunday.  Daddy ended by giving everyone a whip cream nose.  Book of Mormon, Alma 13:4-9 "And thus they have been called to this holy calling on account of their faith, while others would reject the Spirit of God on account of the hardness of their hearts and blindness of their minds, while, if it had not been for this they might have had as great privilege as their brethren. 5  Or in fine, in the first place they we...

Wood Shop/Family

My darling husband had the kids Saturday night while I went to Les Miserables with my sister in law (We had gotten tickets for Christmas.)  He put all the kids in the garage and let them build.  It was fun to see them so excited.  What a great hubby I have. I have been studying the Teachings of Presidents of the Church Joseph Fielding Smith Chapter 4: Strengthening and Preserving the Family .  This has really caused me to think about what kind of mother I am and how I need to be.  Here are some of my favorite quotes and some of my thoughts: "As the forces of evil attack the individual by tearing away at his family roots, it becomes critical for Latter-day Saint parents to maintain and strengthen the family. There may possibly be a few very strong individuals who can survive without the support of a family, but more of us need the love, teaching, and acceptance that come from those who care very deeply. 9" ...
