Yoga/Rejoice

Yesterday I couldn't go to my regular Yoga class so instead I found an online video with yoga for children and did it with Michael and Samantha.  Samantha did great and worked hard.  Michael would do it for a few minutes and then get board.  Sometimes he would climb on me and say "hosy" (horse) and other times I would put him into a pose.

When Maddie had to exercises for her 30 min. Samantha suggested the video and I watched as the two girls did yoga together.  The last 3 minutes when they were relaxing I had Samantha, Maddie, and John Derek all sitting cris cross apple sauce with their hands at their heart.  I took a mental picture as I watched my children doing something I like to do and enjoying it.

This morning Michael kept coming to me "go gut."  I would as if he was saying go gurt (a yogurt that I give him) and he would reply no and repeat, "go gut" again.  Finally he went and got my yoga mat, brought it to me and said, "go gut."  "Yoga?  You want to do yoga?" I replied.  He nodded yes.  I couldn't believe it.  I turned the show on and began the workout expecting him to jump right in.  But he just stood there for 10 min. until I had to lay on my tummy and lift my chest into cobra.  He then sat on my back and said with a simile, "hosy."  That was the end of my yoga work out and the beginning of working my abs.

"Blessed art thou, Alma; therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice, for thou hast great cause to rejoice; for thou hast been faithful in keeping the commandments of God from the time which thou receivedst thy first message from him. Behold, I am he that delivered it unto you."
It is comforting to hear that an angel of God told Alma to rejoice because he had kept the commandments. I know sometimes I only see what I can't do or haven't done or did wrong. I don't look at what I have accomplished. I have wonderful sisters and in-laws, and a husband that continually remind me of how well I am doing. It is sometimes hard to believe but I am so grateful for their view, for trying to help me see that I am doing good, that I am succeeding and that I am still keeping the commandments of God and that I should rejoice.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
