I'm Back/Faith to take me Through

Well it's been a while.  We have had a whirlwind of fun and adventure as we journied to Utah and then back to North Carolina.  Just as we were about to aproach normalcy with school starting and schedules working we got sick.  Derek ended up with pnumonia, I had a cold, Michael and Elizabeth contracted hand, foot, and mouth disease, and Michael also ended up with ear infections in both ears.  Needless to say things have not been normal.

But things are so good.  Derek has a great job that he can take sick days with, the kids are getting back into the swing of school, I am trying to get into a work out rhythm, we were blessed to have my sister come down and take care of all of us this weekend.  It made getting back to normal so much easier.

Michael is getting better, we are having such a blast seeing him get well and returning to the cute boy he is.  Yesterday, as I was showing my sister some of my favorite crochet patterns on Pintrest, Michael said, "me see, me see," I showed him the picture of an afghan and he said, "So cute!!  So Cute!!"  He is what is so cute.

I am reading and listening to books to try to learn more about anxiety and how to help my daughter.  One of the books I am reading entitled, 21 Ways to Finding Peace and Happiness, by Joyce Meyer.  She says:

"We always want God to change our circumstance, but He's more interested in changing us than He is our situation.  A lot of peole have faith to ask God for deliverance from something, but they don't have enough faith to take them through anything."

When I read that I realized how much I am always asking for deliverance and not asking to help me through.  As I have grown older and older, studied more and more, and learned again and again, I have come to realize that instead of expecting the Lord to always make it easy for me I instead have to ask for strength to meet the challenge.  I am grateful for this lesson and know that as I continue throughout life I will learn more and more about it.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
