America

Daddy saw this Luna Moth as they were leaving for school.  Everyone jumped out of the car to get a better look.

"1  And now behold, there was not a living soul among all the people of the Nephites who did doubt in the least the words of all the holy prophets who had spoken; for they knew that it must needs be that they must be fulfilled."

Wow! That is amazing that they ALL knew.  I think about our country and wish the same statement could be said.  I do think that when the Twin Towers fell in 2011 our country turned to God.  It was not the whole country but a lot of it.  And it wasn't very much longer until we forgot again.  Just as the Nephites are about to forget again.

I am just so disappointed in our country right now.  With the gay marriage ruling I feel that our country has turned.  That we are no longer following the Lord but have committed ourselves.  We have lost His blessings.

I need to do more research into this but as I was sitting in my 3rd graders "Meet the Teacher," the teacher informed us that they took learning about the Revolution off of the NC 3rd grade curriculum and replaced it with learning about the Indians of NC who were here before the white man.  My heart sank again.  We are forgetting our heritage, who we are, why we are here, why we have been blessed with such a great country.  It is disappointing to see.

Now with all these frustrating things I still have faith.  I still believe that the righteous will be taken care of.  That there are good people in the United States who have faith and believe in God and want to and do follow Him.  I know we will be okay.  We still have a Church to build, we still must prepare the way for the Coming of the Savior.  I look forward to being a part of this work and am excited to see it unfold.

I am grateful for a loving Savior and a kind Father in Heaven who loves me, who understand me, who blesses me, and cares how I feel.  I am so grateful to be a part of this Church that has a living prophet, that has the power to seal on earth and in heaven, for the priesthood power.  My heart is full of gratitude to my good Father in Heaven and His goodness to me and to this world.  I look forward with anticipation for the coming of His Son.  It will be glorious.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
