State Fair/God is in Control

It is a family tradition to go to the State Fair.  We had a blast!!

All the kids sitting in a giant lawn chair.  We decided we should take this chair and pull it out to Utah and then there would be enough room for everyone on the drive.

John Derek got a candy apple.  He loved the red "blood" all over his face.
Our familie's favorite ride is the swings.  Maddie got to go on with all of us for the first time.  She was so happy, so excited and loved it so much.

Saturday I had some visitors come to my door asking if I had ever wondered "Why so many bad things are happening on this earth?"  My children were intrigued with these "missionaries" and we agreed to watch their short message.  In the message there was a statement made that "the Bible says Satan controlles the earth."  Afterward she asked me what I thought and I told her that I didn't agree with that statement.  She defended it but could see that we were very happy with our religion and our answers and left.

I have pondered over the last few days about the statement that "Satan controls the earth," and just didn't feel good about that.  Today I was running and listening to the Book of Mormon in Helaman 10:4-11.  The Lord comes to the prophet Nephi and gives him command over the elements.  If Nephi wants a drought it will happen, if he wants a mountain to be smooth it will be done because the Lord knows that Nephi will not ask for anything contrary to the will of the Lord.

As I looked up and saw the sun shining down through the trees I was reminded who has control of this earth.  Satan cannot command the elements, Satan will not prevail.  If the Lord wanted a famine to occur it would happen, if He wanted the wicked to be swallowed up in the earth they would.  But our loving Heavenly Father has given us the gift of choice.  He will not interferer with that gift, and He will allow the wickedness in this world to continue so that the earth will be ready for the coming of our Savior.  I know there is sadness and wickedness all around, but I have hope, I have a hope in my Savior, a hope and a faith in my Father's Plan of Happiness, and I know I will be on the winning team when the lines are drawn.

John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P...

First day of school August 2014

First day of school!!  Eveyone was so excited.  Especially little Maddie.  Since March she has been asking me when she would get to go to kindergarten.  She was tired of preschool and wanted to be a big girl.  We told her she would have to wait until after swim team.  For about the last month she has asked everday when swim team would be over.  Finally we had our last swim even, the weekend, and school. For Kindergarten the first week back the kids only come one day so that the teachers can evaluate them and put the classes together.  Maddie's day was Monday which worked out perfect so that everyone could start on the same day. As Maddie got ready she and Samantha were suck like glue.  Samantha being the doting big sister and helping her out with lunch, backpack, and clothes.  We all walked into school and everyone was eager to help drop Maddie off.  When we got to the room the teacher looked at her and said, "Maddie! are you su...
