Maddie/Our Own Nothingness

Maddie has been saying the cutest things lately.  I wanted to share a few.

Maddie and Elizabeth share a room and were getting ready for bed.   John Derek was trying to get into their room and Elizabeth would not let him.  He asked, "Why can't I come in?"  Elizabeth replied, "I am getting dressed and need my privacy."  Maddie chimed in, "I can see you privacy!!"

Maddie as a Who from the Grinch
Maddie was saying family prayer.  Lately when she prays she goes through the entire family and prays for each of them.  I can't remember everyone but here are a few highlights.  "Please bless mommy that she can have the whole house clean when we get home, and please bless mommy that she will clean the whole house before we get home, please bless Elizabeth that she will listen and obey her mom and dad . . . Please bless us that we can have pizza for dinner tomorrow, Amen."

"11  And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.

12  And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true."

Recently I have been around and heard from others about people who are mad a God because He is not giving them what they want. I have fallen under those feelings as well. But I have been blessed with great faith and trust in my Heavenly Father, I am eternally grateful for that gift.
As I read this scripture this morning I was reminded that God owes us nothing. As we continually keep the commandments and continually push forward He will bless us as He has promised but I have to ask, what are we doing for Him? All of this is for us, I will strive to be more grateful and less demanding and more trusting in His timing and His plan.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
