Samantha and the Holy Ghost/God at My Side

Samantha had to give a talk in church the other day.  It was on the gift of the Holy Ghost.  We both prayed to know what story she should tell.  She was reminded of a story that had happened not long ago.  She was supposed to go to bed but was staying up longer than she should and happened to see a scary scene on the television.  She could not sleep.  She was worried and scared.  Derek told her to pray and to read her scriptures.  She followed his advice and "the Holy Ghost brought me peace and I was able to forget the scarey scene and go to sleep.  Now when I am scared I know I should pray and read the scriptures and the Holy Ghost will help me forget."

The Infinite Atonement (Illustrated Edition) by Tad R. Callistar

Pg. 281--Cannot God, the creator of all, fashion, shape, add to, modify and help overcome any weakness of any faithful, humble person?  Was that not the promise from the Holy One himself?

When I think of the weaknesses that I have I am overwhelmed, but when I think, that my God can help me change those weaknesses into strengths I am given hope.  I can do anything with God at my side.

The other day I was loosing patience very quickly.  We were at a swim meet and the meet had not even started.  I knew that if I did not have patience it was going to be a long miserable night for my entire family and extended family.  I walked out of the pool area and found myself alone and said a prayer asking for help and patience.  Immediately I was given an idea to allow the kids to buy one piece of candy but not let them eat it until after they were almost done with their meet and explain to them that they had to be nice and not complain to earn the candy.  It worked like a charm.  They immediately improved and we all had a great meet.  I am so grateful to have such a good, wise friend always at my side who helps me with my weaknesses and gives me the strength I need to be the mother He wants me to be.

Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
