Tithing/Ear Piercing/Divine Nature

I am just amazed at how the Lord works.  He really is amazing.

Today I took Elizabeth shopping for clothes and then to the doctor for a physical and to get her ears pierced.

She had received money for her birthday and couldn't wait to spend it.  I asked her if she was going to pay tithing on the money that she had and she was not happy about that.  She got very defensive.  I then remembered what my Grandfather said in his journal.  That we need to listen to our kids more than lecture them and they will turn out all right.  So I stopped talking and in a few minutes she handed me the tithing money.

We shopped, went out to lunch at Char-Grill, a hamburger joint she really likes, then on to the doctor's.  She was nervous but did a great job.  We even ran into some trouble with the second ear but after lots of hand squeezing everything was okay.  When she got in the car she screemed, "I HAVE PIERCED EARS!!!!"

On our way home she realized that she had left her CTR ring in one of the dressing rooms we had been in earilier that day.  I went back to the store and was able to find it in the lost and found.  When I handed it to her she was so excited and said, "This is because I payed tithing right?"  I hadn't even thought of that.  Then she said, "Okay, I believe in tithing and will pay it from now on."  Isn't the Lord amazing He knew exactly what she needed to feel the blessings of tithing.

Tonight as I was getting Michael ready for bed I felt like I should give him a bath.  I thought this odd as I had just given him one, but decided to follow the Spirit.  Maddie climbed in with him and they had a blast.  I picked up the book "Women and the Priesthood by Sheri Dew.  There I was encouraged to read Doctrine and Covenants 132.  I did and it was beautiful.  Just what I needed to hear to remind me of my Divine Nature.  If I had not given Michael the bath I would not have picked up the book.  The Lord is truly amazing.

D&C 138:55
"55 I observed that they were also among the noble and great ones who were chosen in the beginning to be rulers in the Church of God."
I was withheld from the beginning. There is a need for me now. What is that need? To be a mother in Israel? I know that is a huge part of it. But I was not put where I am just because there was space. I was a noble and great one chosen in the beginning. I have a mission.

"56 Even before they were born, they, with many others, received their first lessons in the world of spirits and were prepared to come forth in the due time of the Lord to labor in his vineyard for the salvation of the souls of men."
I received lessons to prepare me to come forth right now and labor in this wicked world to save souls. That means that somewhere in my spirit are those lessons. I believe that as I continue my scripture study and continue to draw closer to my Heavenly Father I will be reminded of those lessons and come closer to my Father in Heaven.

WE ARE EXPECTING BABY #5

Yes, you read it correctly. The Thornton Family is expecting a new baby in Dec. 2012. We are very excited. Today we made the announcement to our 4 children and I am sure that each of you heard their screams of excitement. Maddison immediately told us that it was going to be a boy but then after a few minutes decided that we need one boy and one girl. John Derek would like the baby to be a boy so that he can have a brother. Samantha would like the baby to sleep in her room. Elizabeth would like the baby to have brown hair so that more kids in the family would look like her. Then the conversation turned to names. Here are some of their favorites: Elizabeth wants: Sarah, Eva, Evelyn, or Eve, and if it is a boy Phineas or Ferb Samantha wants: Sam or Ammon John Derek wants: Johnny Maddison wants: Cinderella and Johnny So here we go. Taking on a new adventure of 5 children with faith that we are following our Father in Heaven's desires for our family. In this last conference Pres. P

Elizabeth

My darling Elizabeth is so wonderful.  At Church I had the pleasure of talking to different people about the great girl she is.  I was in the mother's room, feeding Michael, and talked to two other moms.  We were discussing the joys and difficulties of raising children.  I talked about how I couldn't do it without my Elizabeth.  How she is my right hand.  She is so good and stepping in and making breakfast or lunch.  She loves to make pancakes with chocolate chips.  She is great with Michael.  I know that I can give him to her and he will be well taken care of.  As soon as we pull into the garage she exclaims, "I'll get Michael!" then leaps out of the car and takes him out.  I don't know what I would do without her.  When Michael was first born and I was constantly feeding, sleeping, and trying to hold the house together she did so much.  She was such a huge help.  She is going to be a great mother some day.  She is so good at talking to children and
